Welcome to the wonderful world of plants, Where plants trap, kill and eat Insects. Insectivorous Plants are best known in today's Internet world as Carnivorous Plants, but I feel with many years of growing these great plants, that name Insectivorous is more true to what the plants traps and eat. You will read in books and on the Internet, reports and photo's of other larger life being trapped and eaten by some of the bigger Insectivorous plants around the world. I feel that these reports of animals, birds and frog’s etc, are true but these were ill at the time as these plants traps are not strong enough to hold them for any length of time to allow digestion. There are 14 genus with around 1,000 Insectivorous plants in the world. (see table below) These grow in all parts of the world but for north or south poles and few other parts. You will find more details for each plant in their sections on this site. You will find these plants need only a few things to make them happy to grow for you. Once you get into these plants you will find that each one has difference that you will find interesting. These plants have some great flowers colours and shapes as well as the great leaf's size, shapes and colour. Over time collecting these plants you will find that each one is like a baby of yours as you give it all it needs to grow well. You will find that I have links to places were you can buy & get these great plants throughout the site. You will find that there are links to books that you can buy. I have been growing these plants for over 30 years and still finding them interesting and new ones to grow. I have also been in “The Carnivorous Plant Society” for around the same time. I have worked in the society’s committee for a number years and was the first Internet Officer to get the society on the Internet. You should find all you need to grow these great plants and over time become a collector. But if you have any information or photo’s of these plants that is not on this site please e-mail it. On this site I hope you will find all the information on these plants that you need. You will find like most widely grown plants that some are very easy and a few very hard to grow.
